How To Fishing BlogsNot New York

Another Inshore Thresher Shark!

This time on the Blackhawk II

It’ not every day that a Thresher Shark chomps on a sea bass being reeled it. But it appears it happened recently on the Blackhawk II. Today started out as the usual sea bass and porgy trip- then we had a hungry visitor! It’s not every day a party boat pulls in a thresher shark of this size!

Look at the photo and it looks like there's a Penn 50 setup there. Possibly it grabbed an easy meal and then was baited into a bite.
LOL, I was going to ask WTH goes out for porgies and sea bass with a Penn International? Person was definitely loaded for bear...

Nice whip tail with sharks being so close to shore the last few yrs Its not uncommon for boats fishing for fluke seabass etc to carry a heavy setup for sharks etc

I would like to know how they made sure it was dead prior to lifting it on deck, can't imagine a live thresher on a head boat deck.

They always carry some gear like that on the boat. In the area their fishing I would too. That Race/Block Island area holds a lot of creatures like that this time of year.
