I am asking as I am not sure of the wisdom of a spring blackfish season if that is when they spawn.
But if you safely cull males I guess it makes more sense. I wonder what % of fisherman worry about this.

I was walking the dog in Port Jefferson. A lot of bait swimming in the water. Some bigger bunker swimming around being harassed by I assume bluefish and maybe stripers too. But there was a number of these little fish. What are they? Peanut Bunker?
