Me and my partner boarded a center console that looked like a 27' boat.
Just like any other charter there was a captain and mate. We cruised on
average at 25-30 knots. There was a slight chop. It took us 90 minutes
and we were in a 1,000 foot of water. The surface temps were at 85 degrees.
We started to deep drop with Lindgren Pittman reels. We were given
detailed instructions on operating the reels. Having an understanding
on the fast drift and boat handling under the conditions. There was more
on rigging and baiting. After bagging a handful of fish we decided to make
a move and try for a swordfish. There was more rigging and baiting instructions.
On the way there we hit into a school of mahi. The swordfish never showed up.
There was more mahi but we decided that we had enough and let them be.
There's no big fish there.
