I have been a snowbird for approx. 1 1/2 years now, and during that time I have been a member of the Freedom Boat Club. Being a member with the FBC has afforded me the opportunity to understand better the fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico in SW Florida, Venice area, and what type of boat would best suit my needs.
I have been getting the itch as of late to get my own boat once again. I hope to purchase something by the end of the year. To that end I’m trying to put together a budget that would include expenses related to ownership. In the past I have used the Al Mott Agency For insurance. I spoke with them, and unfortunately they cannot help me for a boat that will be kept primarily in Florida.
So I am looking for recommendations on insurance. Right now I am leaning toward either a Steiger 28’ or 31’ Miami. Not new, but probably somewhere in the neighborhood of no more than 5 years old. Dollar value of boat would probably be between $150-200k
