the other day fishing bait/bottom, pulling back on a hooked fish, the line let’s go easily… wen retrieved I noticed the 20# mono was frayed a good 30’ length off the top… knowing the mono was fresh, I wondered what would do this… was it the dogfish from past outings as the dogfish skin is highly abrasive, possibly but not that far down the line…
then I recall wen beach fishing in Florida the Sargassum Grass is highly abrasive as those grass days should be handled wit care…
so it reminded me of a day last week wen the Grass here was heavy, as this load places strain on the terminal end especially…
I just gave my reel a fresh 200 yards of mono but if I was using braid, I’m sure the grass would be equally as damaging… still learning after all these years… cellfish.…
