Horseshoe Crabs

Hi. Hit the outgoing tide this morning at Gateway Recreation Area on the south shore of Staten Island. Light winds from the sw. were no problem. Looking for fluke and for you old timers I fished with a Penn Power Graph rod rated 8 to 15 lbs. Reel was a Penn 4300ss (yes SS ) spooled with 20 lb. pro power.Terminal tackle was a 3/4 oz. buck tail and and a light jig head about a foot above. Gulp on both. Started at the harbor side but the surf was loaded with mating horseshoe crabs and if you hook on to those that’s the end of your terminal tackle. Moved over to the oceanside where I was rewarded with 3 nice size shorts. Not a bad morning and as always was a lot of fun. Tight lines to all
