pile of dead striped bass

Just last week another patrol turned up a number of illegal striped bass taken by "recreational" anglers. I get it's tough when you get one and it's too big, and then the next one is too small. But the law is the law and it's evident it's going to take a while to set it.

At least the mighty eagle gets to eat them!

Bass Dinner for Rehabbing Eagles - Jones Inlet, Nassau County
On Dec. 4, ECOs Pabes and Kochanowski conducted a boat patrol of Jones Inlet, checking anglers returning from fishing offshore. The ECOs issued multiple citations for oversized striped bass, excess striped bass, and no marine registry. Officers seized 10 illegal fish, four of which were oversized. The Officers donated all confiscated fish to a local wildlife rehabilitator with eagles to feed.

Fish seized will be fed to eagles at a local rehabilitation facility

What was the penalty?

10 bass? Whatever it was, it pales in comparison to the bust they could have made if they followed the guys to the restaurant they were selling to........
