New Robo Call Twist

Got three robo calls this week with a new twist. They come into my cell phone, from a 917 area code, which is a cell phone in Queens NY. The recorded voice starts in English saying that this is from AT&T wireless, then the recorded voice changes to Chinese, & no matter what I press on my cell phone I can't hang up or disconnect the call. When it's over I block the number, but that doesn't help much as the next one comes in from the same area code, different number.

I never answer any call included da landline dat I can’t reckonize tru caller id... Most times da voicemail is Spam / Chinese, which I quickly look up da number to BS origins, and then a quick block & delete...

Last week I made mistake and answered a 516 #, he said Is this mr. d., yes, well this is Costco/Visa seeing that you bought a $300 computer on line wit global inds... sorry sir we have have no purchases to that , turns out the caller was basically picking our brains to see if we could turn anything over to him... I called visa and turned over the fraudulent callers ###... Very unsettling... cellie...

What’s sad is, CONGRESS had hearings not to long ago, wit the telecoms CEO’s to get this annoyance under control.” Guess it didn’t work “... cellie...

I get them from every town on the island. If not in my contacts, I don't answer. If no message , instant block. I've got to have close to a thousand blocked local numbers on my cell phone.
Spoofing numbers are easy now. You can broadcast any number you desire with an App.

This foreign language robo call is the only call that I can not hang up on, all other calls, robo or friend, press the red circle on the screen & they are gone.

On my iPhone I block these BS calls, not sure how effective this is. On my Land Line; yes I still have one; I have a gadget that forever blocks a call when I press a button on any call I don’t recognize.

John,
Apple always has suggested and some required software updates, I always update for bugs and security, are u up to date..?

Also, google the problem and see what comes up. I usually just let mine ring and check it later, I prolly have da same concerns... cellie...

I'll give it a try, I believe the software is up to date. I'll have to check. Sometimes when the phone rings I get a slide to answer, & sometimes when it rings I get A green or red circle on the screen to accept or decline, that's the option I would rater have. Obviously I'm not a very tec guy, up till about 11 months ago I still had a flip phone.

Just found out from Mr. Google that when the phone rings & it happens to be locked you will get the slide to answer, when the phone is unlocked you will get the accept or decline option. Mr Google also claims that when you get the slide to answer, if you press the lock button once that will stop the ringing & a second press of the lock button will decline the call. We will see.

Maybe the Chinese calls are from China trying to warn us of the Corona Virus:LOL:

Yeah, numbers that I do not recognize don't get answered...if it's important they will leave a message.
