A couple of unofficial 400# + fish have been caught in the last 4 yrs, my biggest was 179 caught on the Sunbeam out of Niantic ct. back in the mid 90's, 18 yellowfin were boated that trip, ranging from 145 to 225, there were 8 fish on at one time, all were brought on board, a friend of mine battled a 165 lb for over 2 hrs on 50lb test, he borrowed one of my setups which he thought had 80 lb test. i miss those days for sure.

Sheena - Queen of the Jungle!

That is some catch and a huge fish - but is she like 4' 11" or something?

any body remember those huge yellowfins being called ALLISON TUNA

ALLISON = YELLOWFIN=Thunnus albacares, just the bigger ones, like the one in the photo, with the large yellow sickle-like fins. They used to consider them different species, or at least subspecies, but DNA analysis show them to be the same.
