I have been fishing at kissena park this winter but I have caught nothing. Figured I just Post one report instead of several with nothing to report. I went yesterday it was beautiful out. I was fishing with 3 other guys and they had nothing as well. Think the snow and cold weather had something to do with it. If I have time I will go today. Next report when I catch something.

Today I went fishing at kissena park and I caught a Bullhead catfish on Bread. My first fish this year. I didn't arrive until 3pm and fished till 4:30. A Fisherman next to me caught 10 bluegill on a fly. I wasn't targeting blue gill. This same angler caught a wiper in kissena. Guessing someone released it into the lake. Here are some pics. Congratulations on getting your "icebreaker" for the new season, Bassmaster!

Regarding the fellow who caught a bunch of Bluegill on a fly I have had related experiences. When my parents were still alive, I would visit them in FL every winter and I always brought my fly rod.

On the days when the fish would absolutely refuse any other offering, I could still catch Sunfish and small Bass on a top water fly or popper. There is something irresistible about those small "fly presented" lures.

Every time I venture into Mastic Seafood they always have a pile of what they call hybrid bass in the case for sale that look like that

I was fishing next to him and he showed me the pic. I went to the site and posted it here

Today I went fishing at kissena park and after a terrible start I did excellent at the end. I arrived at 1255. And I caught nothing until 350 and I tried 8 different spots not a bite nothing. So I fish my normal spot and next to me people are throwing cherrios and bread. So when they left I went there and it was game on caught 4 catfish in 20 min all on bread. Guy next to me had 2 catfish also and another guy had a big bluegill and a crappie. Going back tomorrow. 20230411_155928.jpg20230411_152101.jpg

Sorry for the late report. I fished at Kissena park on Wednesday and I did very well. Caught 4 catfish and 3 sunnies fished the same spot as Tuesday. All fish caught on bread. I had to stop fishing a huge snapping turtle arrived on the scene and the fish got scared off. Striper season starts tomorrow April 15. The weather is turning me off east winds and rain at some point tomorrow. Are there any party boats targeting stripers to start the season chunking bunker or diamond jigging. Any help is appreciated. Tight lines

Today had a short 2 hour window to fish. Fishing was great but not what I was looking for. Was trying for carp largemouth bass and crappie caught nothing. Was using bread and worms. I did catch 40 bluegills. non stop fishing for two hours was insane. I also went fishing on Sunday and was the same all bluegills again. I also had 3 crappie but they fell off the hook when I went to swing them so no pics. Here is a pic of my biggest bluegill today. Might go tomorrow if I get everything done in the morning. 20230418_150259.jpg
