Took my brother out yesterday at 515am, hoping for a repeat of Monday's action. Ran to the Rockaway Jetty for a "look-see" and found some blues under birds. We caught a half dozen and then they disappeared. I should note that the NWS blew the forecast AGAIN. West wind at 5-10mph was more like 20mph. We decided to pound our way over to Sandy Hook and were not disappointed. Giant clouds of birds were over 3-4lb blues. I mostly stayed at the helm to keep us steady so my brother popped and jigged 20-30 before we quit. Every effort I made to get in front of the action and drift into the breaking fish was ruined by an a-hole in a center console. He drove right through the middle of the breaking fish every time he moved. Luckily they were so thick, he didn't ruin the day. Thankfully, he & I were the only boats there. My brother used the Patchinko Popper and fell in love with the action and the results. 70-80% of the fish were on that lure.
