Got a hot tip on high tide action in the river just West of my river. Since the AM fishing conditions were horrible, causing me to bail after trying to fish for 15 min at first light, I decided to check out the new intel on today's afternoon high tide. When I got ready to leave the house visibility in backyard was 1/4 miles due to fog, which seemed fine to me. There were a few spots in the lower harbor that I could check out if the fog outside was dangerous. Of course "The Admiral" implored me not to go, concerned about my safety, "I'm not STUPID. I promise I'll have my navigation lights on and won't go out of the Harbor if the visibility is poor. IF things change for the worse, don't forget the GPS has radar overlay."
Got to the harbor entrance and couldn't see squat, with the exception of some excited terns working a rock ledge just inside the inlet. Decided to bail on the original plan and check out what had the birds all excited. Turns out there were bass feeding on "Britt Herring" (Juvenile Herring). Had a nice pick, catching 9 up to 23" within 30 min, but that wasn't the end of the fun. When I got back to the dock and had everything tied up, I tossed out a plug and proceeded to bring in #10 for a brief afternoon trip.
