Nature is Awesome

While I was on my ride yesterday I went to FI. I must have seen thirty deer, and I only went to the western part of the park.

Yellowstone?

Yup, Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone. Heck of an uphill hike to get to this spot! About a mile, much of it up a steep mountain littered with dead lodgepole pine trees. They were burned in the 1988 massive fires. With the steep terrain those trees could roll free if touched. We were there in September 2013 The year after we went a person got killed by a tree on that hill.

Y’stone tree kills man

In my older age I do (somewhat) think before doing something:rolleyes:. I wanted to make that hike the day before, but it was too windy. Asides from the danger of a tree blowing, then rolling down the hill; my photos would not have been a 'crisp' if there was a chop on the spring water. You would also not be able to see the steam rise.

Nature certainly is beautiful, but it is also deadly.

I got a picture of fungus somewhere around here - gotta go find it.................................

The red tailed hawk who has claimed our square block of small yards his feeding grounds could teach that eagle a few lessons.

He would have picked up that squirrel and feasted, he has already cleared a litter of Ferrell kittens and we have not seen any rabbits lately.
Squirrels are thinning out as well.

These Hawks would come around every fall for a few weeks but last year he showed up and never left.
I surprised him several times in the yard either killing or eating.
