FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

Oops. The above post might be confusing. The fridge was on the Home Depot site accessed through the Mitchel Field Exchange site. To be clear. You go on the Exchange site and scroll down to the Home Depot site. You shop on the HD site and put it in the HD cart. At checkout, you are brought back...

FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

Just went on to the Mitchel Field Exchange site. For grins, I put an on sale $1108 fridge in my cart. The price in the cart was $937, no tax and free shipping. I'm thinking our discount through the Exchange includes appliances. Just saving the tax is nice but it seems I also got 15% off as a...

FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

Thank you George. I actually drove up to New Hampshire the next day to be with a Veteran friend who started his five hour chemotherapy. It was a tough journey and I paid for it but it was worth it. Like SenkoSam said, laying down and getting up from laying down is the worst. The actual ride...

Overboard, I'm not sure that having a veterans designation on your NYS drivers license will do it. I thought every Veteran can get that on their DL. While all Vet's get the 10% from HD and Lowes, to get the no tax and free shipping you might have to be Active, Retired or Disabled and authorized...

FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

Sorry I have been out of touch. Been miserable with three nasty broken ribs. I'm sure everyone knows what damaged ribs feel like. Yes, I've only done it once. I went on the Mitchel Field Navy Exchange site and there was a link to go to the Home Depot site. I placed my order, got the usual 10%...

FYI: Active Duty, Retired and Disabled Veterans

Good News for Veterans. Home Depot has made arrangements with the Exchanges whereby you can order online through the Exchange and get 10% off and no sales tax from Home Depot. I'm not sure if there are any restrictions on purchases but I just bought a DeWalt battery powered ratchet, 10% off HD...

    Crabbing on the GSB

Totally agree Pequa1. Johnny Crab and I were at a lobster feast yesterday and we both wished it was blue crab. He's my summer barometer for crabs. He is catching at least twice and almost three times as many as last year. Plus, the crabs are beautiful.

    Crabbing on the GSB

As most of you know, I'm really into catching crabs. For the past 5-10 years, like the clam, crabbing has been mediocre at best. This year started out that way and then we started to notice a lot of crabs and a change in the number of large "she" crabs (immature female crabs). Johnny Crab and I...

S550. Front and rear brakes, oil change with filter and both air filters done. Easy job and saved thousands.

The never ending chat thread, chat about anything That your up too

Getting ready to do an oil change and a front and rear wheel brake change on my Mercedes S550. For those that have one or another model of a Mercedes set up the same way, it's the easiest oil change you will ever do and stupid expensive to have done. You don't even need a pair of gloves and you...

    Whats on tonights Menu

Got a leg of lamb and cut into a couple of small roasts. They came out great. Stuffed it with garlic, rubbed it down with olive oil and rosemary. Put it in an air fryer and pulled it out at 135 degrees. It was delicious with air fried potatoes and a late addition of carrots.

Good News, Clams Returning to GSB

I put this in Articles but wanted others to see it if they didn't check Articles. I read the study and agree with it's findings. If you haven't read it, you might want to do so. It's very informative. Not that I'm a fan of Hockul, I do admire her for providing $10,000,000 for the Town of Islip...

Comment by 'Crabman' in article 'The Great Return: Hard Clams Stage a Remarkable Comeback in the Great South Bay'

This research paper/study is one of the most informative and positive articles about the Great South Bay and it's clam situation I have ever read. It's so refreshing to read a scientific study of the GSB as a particular area as opposed to the entire water system of Long Island's south shore. I...

Good News, Clams Returning to GSB

OMG. That article is so enlightening. I love it. Thank you so much for sharing. I truly would love to talk to the authors. I have some concerns and perhaps with the right people, we can keep the progress going.

Good News, Clams Returning to GSB

Wow Susie, my head is swelling. Thank you for those incredible kind words. I will read the article and I'm sure with George's recommendation, it's got to be a good one. I truly enjoy this site. I think it's a talented group and the moderation makes it one of the best forums I have been involved...
