Fresh water rinse and wipe down after each outing. Rods and guides get forceful spray wash. Reels get a light misting. Both are then dried. Every second or third trip, rod and reel get a wipe down with Penn Rod and Reel cleaner. Maybe it is a lot, but sure keeps equipment functioning well...
