    Still some decent ones in the back bays. One at 20 one at 19 3/4 . Strips on a Dropshot rig worked well . Flood tide 70 degree water

    Finally better fishing in the bay today . Had to work hard but limited out . Even the shorts were bigger . Dropshot rig with long strips was very effective. Better fish were up shallow in the back bay around Freeport in 76 degree water

    And the tough fluking continues . One 20 inch fish out of 25 or so . Bay is overrun with gulp nibblers so had to resort to sea robin strips to keep bait on the hooks. Best fishing was in deep holes in the back very close to Freeport on the flood in 76 degree water

    Finally got the fluke to bite the jig in the bay today . Keeper ratio same as usual . 1 22 inch fish out of 30 . At least I’m not burning much fuel for my dinner. Had 2 others that were July keepers as well

    Still experimenting with the Dropshot rig in the bay . Just can’t get the fluke to hit the jig this year . 40 fish one 20 inch keeper and one 18 and 99/100 that I dutifully released . Gulp jerk shad in new penny or a long thin strip of belly 14 inches up was key

    Had a freshwater guy on my boat last year that did the same . Turns out that rig is killer with a small gulp minnow or jerk shad . Maybe a thin strip of belly . Have been experimenting all spring with it . Very effective so far with fish to 25 inches . 10 lb braid 15 pound leader . Hook direct...

    Fluke are thick local to Freeport ! Only problem is short to keeper ratio is terrible . Had 35 fish on a 3 hour trip with one 24 inch keeper to show for it

    Definitely a new body of fish in the bay with the full moon and warming water . 20 or so shorts and 2 nice keepers at 23 and 21 . Good fishing last 2 hours of the flood back bays Freeport

    Pretty sure it’s a minimum 75 foot distance from your stern to the bridge to be legal . Only pkace I’ve ever hung an anchor at the Meadowbrook is the northeast side right at the 5mph sign on the piling . Cable or something there

    Started my 2026 fluke season today . Lots of wind . Water 51 to 53 . Flood tide . Couple of shorts in the back bay . Very sluggish fish . Would only hit a light jig and gulp shrimp . Boat ran well on its first trip of the year
