Late Start, But A Good One

Got a late start this spring due to having a Minn Kota Trolling Motor installed on the boat, anxious to get out today, fish, & try my new toy. I couldn't pass up the rip on the way to the porgie grounds, resulting in two bass right at the bottom of the slot, both fish returned. More that two dozen boats fishing the rip, & it was time for me to make it one less boat, on to harass the porgies. Took a little time for my old brain to get spot lock working, but work it did. Peconic porgie fishing in mid May is good for my ego, in short order kept 7 jumbos for the table & left them biting. Decided to make a detour on the way back to the launch ramp, was able to find a weakfish about 18" which was returned. Can't help but love the spring on the North Fork. Fish Tacos for dinner.

Nice going, John.
So, you too have a trolling motor now? I thought you were sharp enough to not need such exotic equipment!! :ROFLMAO:
Honestly, I am just jealous! Use it well and catch a ton of fish this season. I'm' sure I will see you out there.

Thanks for the words Capt Mike, thought about it for a long while, & still not sure if I crossed the line between needing a trolling motor, or wanting a trolling motor.

I'm sure you will put it to good use. Just being able to avoid using the ground tackle on certain days will more than make you smile. Controlling your drift as well as thoroughly working a small piece of structure are also very strong points in its favor.

I bet the fish are already nervous!!:D
