Slow Pitch Rod

So I was looking at some slow pitch rods and I saw one was rated 2-13oz. I feel like that's a huge gap. I noticed on some "standard" rods the lure rating was a lot closer in oz's. Is this something that's unique to slow pitch designs or?

"well it sounds like you are discovering slow pitch rods for the first time which is not surprising since most beginners think all rods work the same way.that wide range is actually what makes slow pitch equipment superior to the standard gear that weekend warriors use.

being the old time purest that I am I have been using slow pitch techniques since before they became trendy and can tell you that 2-13oz range is exactly what you need if you want to catch fish instead of just exercising your arm.you see, when you are working different depths and currents you need versatility, not the narrow ranges that beginners prefer because they are easier to understand.

I regularly switch from 3oz jigs in shallow h2o to 12oz jigs when the current picks up, all with the same rod.this is something that standard rods cant handle but then again standard rods are designed for standard fishermen.

hope this helps with your education,
