Airgun pistol: Beeman P17

just pre-ordered one at airgunsdepot.com but probably not getting here until January. Yesterday I had decided to run a rod through my long guns, do some light oiling in the receivers etc., but discovered that two of my airguns would not hold air. One is the Crosman 760 I got in 1966 (and after a thousand BBs and pellets enabled me to make the high school team as I had never shot a gun until then.) But years later, in order to practice handgunning before us mere first lieutenants would finally start qualifying with a 1911 instead of M16s, I got a Daisy Powerline 747 and yesterday it too would not hold air upon pumping. ( I did make Expert every year until I retired with handguns. Never could with the M16 as I could not see the 300M targets LOL !) Since I have a Beeman R8 pellet rifle and an inexpensive Marksman target style pellet rifle, no need to repair the Crosman 760, but did want to be able to "basement shoot" a pistol again, hence the Beeman P17 with its stellar reviews for such an inexpensive purchase. Will post my own reviews upon receipt.

Been shooting a dozen rounds a day in my basement. I like the fiber optic sights and the way it feels in hand. What I don't like is how hard it is to cock it. Yes, I have lost some strength over the years but I have to hold it in one hand against my thigh to cock it, lol. Also, inserting the pellet isn't that easy and I have small hands and fingers. OTOH, this gun is putting out a pellet at over 400fps with that single cock and is probably accurate at 20 yards and not just the 20' I am shooting. The price was right at just $50. and of course before it arrived I was able to get my old Daisy Powerline 747 working again and it probably is putting a pellet out at about 275fps. Half as hard to cock. Both have terrific triggers. Being single shot they stress adhering to marksmanship principles as well. I fully agree with the bunch of excellent reviews, many of which praise the pistol before even getting to affordability.
