The half-dead maple tree turned up fully dead this year, so I finally gave in and started taking it down.

Sort of "before" picture. ^^^ More of a halfway pic I guess. :(

This is where I ran out of saw and had to stop.

I got the lawn cleared and about half of the cuttings broken down before I ran out of gas. I mean me, not the saw.

Speaking of which. If you had told me ten years ago that a battery powered toy chainsaw could do all that I'd have called you crazy.

There's still a lot of tree work to be done on the property, but I think I'm calling the pros for the rest of them. I'm completely shot and still have a lot more to do on this one. But for now, it's time for a cold beer and a hot shower.

The other tree next to the one you took down is on the way out too. Have the tree guys do everything you want all at once . You will save tons of money than having them do it multiple times. Also get a minimum of three estimates. Prices can go from great to I need a second mortgage. And just make sure they show proof of full insurance.

Unfortunately I'm forced to agree about the other tree. It's going to suck to lose that one because it's such great shade for the yard.

I'm definitely looking for a package deal. At least four trees and six stumps to grind. I've also got a couple of Junipers that are just enormous and have overstayed their lease, and one other Maple that needs an arborist consult and hopefully just pruning. I'm not looking forward to it at all, but this is a time to throw money at the problem.

I can stop by and give you my opinion/advise

Almost as long a day today.

I borrowed a 16" 40V Ryobi chainsaw from a family member to get the bigger pieces. I ended up leaving it a little over four feet for future options.

If I can come up with a suitable tabletop I'll knock it down to around three feet and bolt that to it for now. It'll be a great place to park beverages while we watch fireworks on Independence Day.

Other than that, the rest of the day was a lot of breaking tree down into firewood and yard waste. There's still more, but I've got it to a manageable pile.

And I got rid of the remnants of my neighbor's Wisteria. The poor POS chipper I borrowed was not up to dealing with vines. I hate vines.

Time to throw some burgers on the grill.

The weight is really sad, but I’ll take the money lol

Back in a former life on a local NASCAR team we had an expression; A win, is a win, is a win.

Race was ended for weather? Your car was in front when they ended it. You won.

It's not unearned or 'with an asterisk.' Your car was in front. You won.

Congratulations on your win!

You ever hear of Bill Parks racing team ?

Steve Park was climbing the ladder about the same time I was a crew chief at Riverhead.

We were exploring Sportsman class and the emerging Supertrucks, looking for a way to move to the bigger, or at least different, tracks just around the time he was moving towards The Show. For me, after my father's passing it became impossible for me to run a business and go racing.

I didn't know them personally, but we were definitely working in the same neighborhood.
