Got out on sunday with my son and cousin Mark in from VB. Broke the inlet around 10 am and headed across the LIS.
Kind of sloppy but able to stay on plane and not get wet. Set up at Sheffield Rocks in 10-20 ft of water. Water temps 63.
Action from slack to incoming, everything on the short side of 16 inches. Some very close but nothing to keep. The boats around had basically the same thing, except for one not 50 feet from us, they had the honey hole and were enjoying themselves.
After enough playing with the shorts, we headed back across the sound and settled into 30 ft depth. Fish were there and hungry also, and Andrew managed 2 keepers to 19" as well as plenty of shorts. Left them biting.
Went out again on monday at 3pm with my daughter and boyfriend also. Went to the same local area of sundays keepers. Sound was nice with a light chop from the east diminishing winds. We again had constant action with Ally breaking in her new lightweight spinner on chunky feisty 15 incher, soon followed by the drama of the rod jumping out of the rod holder and into drink. Luckily the tide wasn't pulling hard and we quickly tied on some bunker snags and within minutes her BF JJ snagged her birthday present and the rod was back on board. Andrew again had the only keeper at 16.5", but saving the new rod and reel became the catch of the day story.
