I looked at the Miller Place Bait and tackle site and the Speaker Schedule was posted there. I guess as a vendor, he would get a copy. The Sunday was too low resolution to be readable. Found it at

    Books (Good reads) about fishing.

I never remember reading that Matt Ahern passed. I saw a few of his seminars. He was an excellent speaker. He borrowed the old Henry Ford comment regarding color: (paraphrasing) “Use any color bucktail you want, as long as its white”. I still have the Uncle Josh Bucktail Kit he recommended...

I thought “Fishing with the Bucktail was an excellent book. I went to have Captain John DeMaio sign it. I tried to set up a charter. Unfortunately, I found out that he had pancreatic cancer and was no longer able to accept charters.

I do not believe I'm going fishing anytime soon in this weather. But a good book can be special. Right now I am starting a John Skinner book, Fishing the Edge. Anyone have any other great fishing books they like to recommend?

This has been a cold winter so far

I remember reading a long time ago, cold winter means more sand eels. I have no idea if that’s true. Any baitfish affected? What will....if anything.....do for the fishing in the spring??

The toughest / easiest fish to catch

I went to a seminar last year. The person giving the seminar said the striped bass was easy to catch and fluke was probably the hardest. The techniques to catch them were the reason he said that. Now even people dead sticking catch fish. I think he was refereeing to sharpies that catch more and...
