Good News, Clams Returning to GSB

I don't. I made a couple of these rakes years ago. I did not design the rake. I knocked it off in my shop.

    Scallops in the GSB

I'm seeing the same on my creek. They are fast, efficient hunters. Eels don't stand a chance. They had to remove the island in Argyle Lake in Babylon because they coated it with the most foul stench of white shit. As you walk around the lake and got downwind, the smell would gag a rat.

    Scallops in the GSB

They are feeding machines and should be destroyed. They are not native birds.

Bass shoulders split in half and rolled in flour spiked up with Old Bay sauteed in toasted sesame oil. Beef liver and onions with air fryer potatoes.

Wow Mojoe. Quite the smorgasbord of enhancers. You really got this pot stuff down. I hope no one finds this photo offensive. It was done completely legal. I have both a medical marijuana card and six plants are now legally allowed to be grown by general public. Moderators, please remove this...

I'm happy I did not see them. I might have done something stupid. When I was eighteen and waiting for a friend so we could go trout fishing at 0500, while looking out the window I saw two guys coming down the block going into the cars. Instead of calling the police, I took off, out of the house...

First time trying to grow one in a pot. I have grown and lost some in the dirt in the past. I used top quality Fox Farm Ocean Forrest as potting soil so I'm good to go for awhile with fertilizer. Thanks for your input Mojoe. I'm thinking about a drip system for my watering. I'm looking forward...

Just transplanted a Fig tree I started this winter. It was a small cutting from a friend's delicious black fig tree. I'm happy with it's progress and plan to grow it in a container so I don't have to deal with wrapping it. Now I just have to fig-ure out how to move it. It's a really big pot...

    Whats on tonights Menu

Couldn't sleep last night. Passed on dinner earlier for no reason and got an overwhelming urge for waffles and eggs at midnight. Being single and retired with no real responsibilities unless it's a fishing or doctor appointment, I can sleep in as long as I want. I'm in love with my fairly new...

    tides question, Great South Bay

Pequa1, I stick to one table app and just work off that one. Tides Near Me. I don't think it matters which inlet. (I could be wrong). Tides Near Me does not seem to have a Lindenhurst tide station. Are you sure you are looking at Lindenhurst, NY? The high tide of all your mentioned locations...

    tides question, Great South Bay

That's kind of you George. I think NY Angler has all types of unique information being shared by a great group of talented guys. It's probably one of the most respectful peer to peer sites I have been involved with. From you as the Administrator, the moderators, the members and the talent like...

    tides question, Great South Bay

I'm happy if it helps. It's confusing. Just take a day and start your fishing as the out going tide at Jones Inlet starts. Find a high tide table that is the same time as the out going current and use that table. I have a great app on my phone, Tides Near Me. I just looked, the Babylon High Tide...

    tides question, Great South Bay

Pequa, I'm sorry for my late response. I spend a lot of time in the water or on my boat with underwater lights. I use current for water clarity. It is my opinion, the change point for Jones Inlet "current" and Fire Island Inlet "current" is between the Lindenhurst Cut and Babylon Cut. West of...

    Scallops in the GSB

Ditto. J-bay, no way. I would rather work a bit harder in clean water then eat clams from the Project's waste water.

Both beautiful shirts. Too expensive for the fishing or fixing of things that I do. Crab pots and other gear we use are brutal on shirts. These cheap Amazon hoodies are actually perform as good as my expensive performance shirts and if they rip or get stained at $13, oh well.

    Scallops in the GSB

That's a sad story we need to fix. I think we should have a bounty on cormorants. Not that they caused the decline alone but the eat everything the bay has to offer and are really good at it. Stocked trout, eels and other baitfish are all cormorant candy. I worked with Phil Briggs from the...

    Scallops in the GSB

Johnny Crab. Fastest shucker of clams and scallops on Long Island. Yours truly 42 years ago. Strong hands. We had 20 bushels of the finest bay scallops in the world this day. That was not uncommon for us. Interesting fact, bay scallops only live 1 to 2 years. That's why their thin shell is...

    Scallops in the GSB

Although I this is a thread about the scallop return, the importance is not the scallop but the health of the GSB. We need the eel grass to recover. Back in the day, the eel grass held so much baitfish. I can remember long before skimmer chum. My Dad and his good buddy would drag an eight for...
