Crushed the bass today on bunker pods outside FI. It was nonstop catching for two of us. We easily had 25+ fish. Largest fish was 49". Only a few slot fish, most were overs. We kept two for dinner.
Those were the days Capt. Mike. I remember them well. My dad talked about weakfish in the early 60's but I never saw one and then, all of a sudden, they arrived in the late 60's early 70's. Cookie cutter for the most part here in the Fire Island Inlet area at about 7-8 lbs per fish. They were...
If you are looking for a new set of foul wx gear, checkout Frogg Toggs FTX. I have a lot of different sets of foul wx gear. For general fishing which includes throwing a castnet, these work fantastic. I'm 6'3" and 200lbs. The XL fits like they were tailored for me. Extremely comfortable, plenty...
Another crazy day on the bass outside Fire Island Inlet. It started out with a surprise which became dinner. I don't like snagging bunker if I don't have to. My castnet does a great job and many times I throw off the fishfinder. Twenty feet of water is not a problem for my ten foot, 2 1/4" mesh...
I went clamming yesterday and had a blast. Without a doubt the best clamming I have seen in many years. I have probably clammed every way possible including dredging where we caught over a hundred bushels of clams a day in three to four hours. My crew was my wife. She handled the back deck while...
A friend unfortunately hit a pile of rocks with his brand new 350 hp outboard. The prop is damaged to a point he decided to buy a new one and his skeg is also damaged. He needs a bit of moral support as we get him fixed up and back in the water. I don't see a problem with a bit of grinding to...
Snuck out today between the rain showers and grabbed up some clams. I love clamming now that the GSB is roaring back. Clams casino tonight. New England Chowder tomorrow night.
Yum......
I thought the same thing Avenger but being ex-Navy, it was a Naval Reserve boat. I'm guessing they take reservists out to remind them which part of the boat is port, starboard, bow and stern. Looks like they might need some gps chartplotter practice. As Longcast said, shit happens. They really...
Yesterday the Navy missed the channel just east of the Lindenhurst Cut. I can't believe how much they abused those Merc's. It took a tow boat pulling and two waking it to get him off. They were trying for a long time with one tow boat and had no luck. With two boats waking it and one pulling it...
