To think that I grew up in Flushing and never knew of this fishery... swift current, live bunkers, really rough bottom, amazing views ... was a great experience. We had dozens up to 38"
We transitioned from NJ fluking in the Shark River to ocean fluking off Long Branch. Not yet a hot bite but size has been impressive. It's good that u can keep Seabass up to 6/19, they're everywhere. Last Saturday I had quite a thrill while fluking , fish went on numerous runs , turned out...
State officials: No NC recreational flounder season in 2024
The N.C. Division of Marine Fisheries announced the recreational flounder season will not open this year “in order to preserve the southern flounder resource."
Citing continuing pressures on the fishery, state officials announced...
Since NY Seabassing doesn't start until 6/23 my brother from LI hopped on the train and joined me for a phenomenal fill-the-freezer NJ trip . You are each allowed 10 seabass over 12.5" but we made 14" our minimum size and filled the box in no time. We fished Axel Carlson reef area. Also...

The split-season is a head-scratcher to me, and just like last year's NJ slot (now defunct) will be difficult to enforce.
And these regs remain in place for 2025 (MAFMC: Measures will be restricted to achieve the...

Saltwater Fishing Expo FAQ
https://saltwater.sportshows.com/show-info-faq/
The option that came in 2nd place at last night's council meeting included a 1" smaller size for shore/pier/jetty caught keepers. This option would've been popular if it included a longer season.
Council has approved 145 day season, 5/4 thru 9/25, 3 fluke at 18" or >. This meets fed 28% reduction mandate.
Great to see so many people made comments (in person and over Webinar), the council mentioned this was the most comments they ever received and appreciated the public input...
From Roccus above:
