A new tight house with a conditioned crawl space plus the heat pumps will very very nice. Add in the wood stove and we should be toasty. This is a picture of the Quadra Fire Discovery I we're getting. It's not big but rated for 800-2100 sq ft.
My oil company estimated I used 2 gallons a day to heat the Farmingdale house in December. This was after we moved out and the thermostat set at 60o (the wood stove was obviously not in use).
Fortunately it's out of the way. I've taken 2 weeks off during the holidays to recover from all the uhaul trips between NY and VA over the past two months. The cutting starts next week and while it's hard work cutting and splitting (by hand) it's my kind of therapy. Happy New Year!
My land clearing guy left me two dozen oak trees from the lot I had cleared. It surprised me how big they looked once they were down. I'll be busy this winter.
I am getting Quadra Fire Discovery 1 for the new house. It's a smaller stove but my heating needs will be less. Great tax credit currently available for price of stove plus installation of chimney and hearth.
Yes we're going with the builder Beracah from Delaware and am combining the Greenville (2 boxes) and Greenwood (1 box) models with a bonus room upstairs. Will be so nice having a nice tight home.
