Good advice. My current engine is 300lbs (the 75 is a de-tuned 90). I'm planning on putting the boat in at the ramp and putting some solid cement blocks in the stern to make sure the scuppers stay above the waterline when the weight is up at 375lbs. I know Harry Farmer (the builder) encased...
I've got a 1995 21ft Seaway CC downeast design that's been in mothballs for 10 yrs (got into kayak fishing in big way). Now that I am retiring in a month I'm going to uncover her and shop for a new motor. Hitting the boat show Thursday to checkout motors. Currently have a 75hp on her and will...
My only complaint about the Grovers were that they rolled a bit while drifting or at anchor but there are always design trade offs. And few boats that size could cross the Atlantic like Al's boat did. They are as seaworthy as they come.
The wood is free but the effort certainly isn't. My family and friends all know to call me if they see a tree being taken down. I still do like the hunt and I am a bit nuts even when I'm on vacation I'll slow down and look if I see someone taking down an oak I just can't help it.
Saw a pair of nesting eagles off the Carmans River last year. I still love the Osprey though and when osreytrax.com was more active would I would track certain birds epic migration down to South America. The site had a Mattituck Osprey (named Northfork Bob) that had made serval successful...
Not bad for a 64 year old eh? Just lifting those logs in the truck is a trick. I have air bag springs inflated with a load like that to help the suspension. Max size is 20" so I pick and choose my wood carefully no forks or knots if I can help it. There's some pieces that give me such a hard...
I burn about 4 cords a year. When the temps in the 30's the house (a cape) stays in the mid 60's but when it's low 20's or very windy I'll need some help from the oil burner but not much, my oil company doesn't like me. I collect all my wood (thank you craigslist) and I split it by hand. I...
That would be me. My wife and I bought some property 10 plus years ago knowing this is where we wanted to retire. It reminds of of what the north fork on LI used to like back in the day. Retirement is now a reality and we're meeting a builder next month. We are probably going to go with a custom...
