    Spearing Shortage

I guess we all learn certain tricks from the elders who taught us about our passions in life. I still recall being amazed when over 50 years ago one of my bait guys in Wantagh told me you could keep killies alive in some newspaper wet with seawater in the fridge for about 24 hours. I used that...

    Flounder/Blackfish

While I too mourn the loss of our winter flounder, I must say a nice fresh Cod filet on the table is an excellent substitute! Well done!

    Spring is in the horizon

Made another big step towards the start of my season today. The "Captain's Table" is officially in her slip and making great progress towards finishing the commissioning checklist. If all goes as planned, I should be fishing by the end of next week. Let me tell you with the summer like weather...

    Spearing Shortage

I never realized the ice water trick was the key to keeping the fresh spearing from bursting bellies. I guess I have been really spoiled over the years by my local bait supplier who always gave me the pick of his top shelf stuff. Leave it to a pro like yourself to figure this out!!:)

Berkley Unveils Two New Gulp Saltwater Shrimp Shapes

Could this be the new "Tog Secret Weapon" as per the recent thread by Peter R's kayak adventures?

    Spearing Shortage

They look like some real quality size as well. Personally, I prefer the local stuff best over the Canadians, so I'm with you. Nicely done, Crabman!

    Spring is in the horizon

Tomorrow looks like a good bet and just what the Bass like, overcast conditions; plus, the wind should be light as compared to the next gale coming our way on Wednesday! Hope you "catch em up!! Personally, I took full advantage of today's weather window and got a few of the most physically...

And Another Blackfishing Myth Bites the Dust

And we spend how much on fuel, bushels of crabs, fancy tackle, jigs, lead, etc? Although it seems that practically anything on the planet loves shrimp, this is pretty amazing. If I remember correctly, Skinner did try using Gulp on Tog a few years ago. He did catch one or two, but it didn't seem...

    Retirement Gift for myself

Sounds like the old story about finding a "cherry Corvette" that grandma only drove to church on Sundays!:ROFLMAO: She definitely looks pristine! Glad to hear you made such a great score. Only now the deck is likely to be full of scales!!!

Palmarius Spinning Rod - From Good to GREAT

Excellent rework! I don't think there is a single piece of tackle in Lep's entire arsenal that isn't customized one way or another! Hope you catch a ton of Fluke with it.

    Retirement Gift for myself

Glad to see she is tied up at her new home and ready to go. With the last couple of days of insane winds, and cold temps I chose to take care of cleaning up my lawn, weeding, putting down a ton of mulch...ugh!! From here on out every day the temps are above 45 and it is not blowing a gale, I...

    Retirement Gift for myself

Now that's what I call retiring with style! Covering all the fishy bases wherever they are biting! Nicely done, Vinny.

    Spring is in the horizon

And so, it begins on the "North Fork" Took off the shrink wrap this morning got a few things organized and will give her a thorough bath tomorrow. Then my typical long list of commissioning work with a planned splash the third week of April. Felt really nice enjoying lunch while looking at the...

    1995 Shamrock

Lep is definitely our most knowledgeable member on all things Shamrock. In fact, one of his friends owns this same model for many years. So, if anyone needs more info on hull design, fishability, etc. reach out to Lep. A rare bird for a hull that size to have a straight inboard engine. But...

    Anyone heard of M3Tackle

As Lep noted I did buy some of their "store brand" Bass Flutter Spoons 2 years ago. Although they did catch fish, I didn't find those particular lures held up as well as the name brand stuff like Tsunami or Tony Maja. After a few uses all the paint chipped off and I had to repaint them again...

    Creek Chub Plugs

Those are beautiful and obviously in pristine condition. I am not much of a collector, but I think those older Creek Chub plugs are collectible and might fetch a good price on the market. That is unless you plan to use them. The jointed one must have some incredible action.

    NY Veterans Food Fish License

I received the same iPad and personal tutorial from Mike and Tara last fall. In addition, Mike and I had a conversation that led him to mating for me on a few Tog trips last fall. Funny how it all connects!!!
