Happy Thanksgiving to all here on NYAngler. We all have much to be thankful for this year.
Not the spotty bottom fishing though. Not real thankful for that. . . 😐
I've fished enough with Mike to make a valid observation that though his Eastern Sound fishery is still quite good, it is not what it was even five seasons ago. He is working harder (and smarter) in order to keep his catching consistent. And the size is down out there as well. Most eastern...
A Wesmac 38 would be "a bit" closer to my budget.
But given the current state of NY Bight bottom fishing, a used Ted's Fishing Station skiff would actually hit my "new boat" number. Seems to be a few to choose from too.
Used to be Ed's Fishing Station, not Ted's. Yep, that's how...
You must mean "IF we can get a decent weather day," right?
It seems every Fall the "wind issue" gets worse. I do recall extended periods of late-season wind 25-30 years ago, but NOTHING like we've seen the past few seasons. Really puts a crimp in my style. 👎
Thanks for the invite Mike! I'm keeping my boat floating 'til the south shore's very end, so maybe we get a couple of trips in before it shuts down.
On another note, I have to remember to hold out a nice blackfish more than I would a decent fluke. That fish in the pic was the biggest of the day...
Haven't posted much because my local togging has been less than great. Abysmal is the word that comes to mind. We're catching quite well, just not many keepers at all.
On a happier note, here's wifey's take on shrimp and fresh blackfish oreganata. Really, really great!:
Had Capt. Mike aboard today for a calm-seas togathon. Must have caught 75 fish (at least!), only able to cull three legit rec keepers to 4lbs out of them. Plenty of comm keepers though.
Great video Darth! I envy you guys that can fish shallow with real light tackle. My fishing begins at 50' (with current) and goes out to better than 90'. Still can fish light, but not ultra-light!
Changes are definitely coming. Not a ton of needs that can't be addressed internally. The farm has some serious talent to draw from.
Acuna will play second next season. McNeal to the LF. Vientos and Mauricio will split time 3rd base/DH. Jet Williams a mid-season call-up. Three pitchers on the...
How’s about blackfish Pizziaola with Spaghetti? Extra olives, (imported Italian black and Greek Kalamattas), sliced Italian hot peppers, capers, oregano and lots of onion and gaaarlic, of course!
Looks like they got up off the mat in good fashion. This team seems to do best in must-win games. Now every game is an elimination game. Can the magic continue? I'm cautiously optimistic.
Oh, and WhatKnot - its LFGM, not LGFM! Makes all the difference! ;)
Fished a local reef with Kevin/Longcast in a good-sized swell yesterday. Had 50 fish between us. Just three legit rec keeps and a couple of big biscuits. Kills me throwing back really fat 15.75" fish. I believe the near-full moon and swell threw off the better-sized fish bite. Kevin looking all...
They have better pitchers, and hitters that don’t chase anything off the plate. We swing at almost every friggin’ down and away slider. Why would they throw fastball strikes? They threw one to Vientos last night in the second inning and he parked it in their bullpen. After that a steady diet of...
