Update:
Afternoon and night models have cooled down a bit.
My revised snow forecast for NYC Metro and Nassau County is 7”-12”.
For Suffolk County, 4”-8”.
I will try and give a final update tomorrow morning.
Snow begins 3-6pm.
If models make a shift tonight or tomorrow morning, I will post my final prediction.
If not,
that means I am going with 4"-8" for NYC and LI and 3"-6" for Eastern LI and south shore ocean areas.
Hi everyone, sorry for not posting sooner. Storm was very iffy and I was waiting until today to see the more accurate short term modeling:
Today's models bring the low to close to LI and would mean a mix for NYC area after a few inches of snow. Not a pure snowstorm as of this morning's models...
Weather pattern supports multiple chances of snow the next 2 weeks.
I think Friday is an Upstate NY and Mountains snow event. Rain for coast.
But then as we go into next week, Tuesday-ish and then a few days later could snow to the coast.
Have to watch all of them coming off Africa because there is blocking in the Atlantic and if timing is right, there could be a threat or 2 for the east coast.
No need to panic but the trough and blocking setup is ideal for an east cast hurricane threat. Maybe even a double threat like in 1955.
European model basically has Sandy part 2, while most other models affect further south.
No need to panic, but somethiing too keep an eye out for in the Sept...
Non factor but I believe the way the pattern is setup, it's screaming for another storm or 2 heading for the East Coast. Hopefully, not near us, but it's certainly possible this year.
I would also look in the Gulf for a home grown storm soon.
What? Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands got destroyed. Most damage I have ever seen in my life from a hurricane. The entire eastern side of Grand Bahamas and all of Abaco is leveled.
