Possible relaxation of groundfish regulations in Gulf of Maine...

Please explain why you feel that slots don't work for Stripers? This past season seemed to prove to many that throwing back those 38"+ had a positive effect on the fishery. Slot fish work well for Florida and Texas, and now slots are being considered in NJ for fluke. Mike,,, Can you please...

Green Sunfish, considered invasive in some states. Why is it invasive? The main advantage that the green sunfish has over other fishes is its large mouth and ability to consume a wide variety of prey. Green sunfish will prey on the young of other fish species and quickly grow in numbers, while...

Post #2 Letter for Summer Flounder, continued

Thanks George. The author is working with RFA and SSFFF, and has already procured endorsement from NJFishing.com. Would you be willing to endorse this study on behalf of NYAngler.com? It would go a long way in raising awareness and promoting synergy between states. Thanks for your consideration.

Post #2 Letter for Summer Flounder, continued

In a fishery where females grow significantly larger and live longer than males and larger fish bring a substantially higher wholesale value to the commercial sector, the use of increased size minimums to manage catch comes with a high degree of risks. Mandating a majority of the recreational...

Letter to Dept of Commerce, Senators, ASMFC, MAFMC re- Summer Flounder Regulations

As promised here is the letter sent this week. It was presented with a detailed document that I can email to folks by request. Using the very data that the Agencies have published thru the years it is evident that the Regs have clobbered the Fluke Fishery. This analysis examines historical...

Petition to change summer flounder regs

I may be a Jersey Guy but this fishery needs a United front to preserve it. Documents will be sent to our various agencies next week that will show that the regulations are at fault for the substantial decline in the stock, and if the size fish being harvested in this fishery doesn't revert...

Thanks Roccus - the petition is to raise awareness (across states) to the governing bodies, not to solve this mess with specific parameters. To all NYAnglers: please sign the petition to alert the Regulators that Fluke regs need improvement b4 our favorite flatties are history, thanks!

Petition to change summer flounder regs

ASMFC has ensured that large female Striped Bass are protected on the entire East Coast by mandating that all Stripers over 38" are released. Wouldn't you want to see a similar mandate for fluke breeders?

Post your 2019-2025 Fluke Pix & Trip Reports Here!

Memorable day today in South Jersey. The fluke seem to be migrating along the beach rather than usual offshore route. We did well in 50', got our 13 man limit and then the fun began: a friendly competition to see who could swing the biggest fluke. 24"ers, 25, didn't matter because we already...
