Regarding jigs, how can you tell if the hook correct?
Also, in his book, John Skinner mentions using a blackfish jig for porgy. The hook looks too big on most I have seen.
They mentioned that the Penn and Shimano service is great. To paraphrase, they don't skimp and darn near replace everything. I guess that is great service. Funny how busy they are now. I would have thought everyone would panic in May when fluke season opened and they found their reel rusted...
I am meeting a friend for lunch. He mentioned he needed a new reel Fluke since Daiwa will not service his because it’s over 5 years old. He said he would never buy another Daiwa reel.
Is that lack of support and service for a reel standard? I have a Michell 300 Pro serviced like three years...

I never remember reading that Matt Ahern passed. I saw a few of his seminars. He was an excellent speaker. He borrowed the old Henry Ford comment regarding color: (paraphrasing) “Use any color bucktail you want, as long as its white”. I still have the Uncle Josh Bucktail Kit he recommended...
I thought “Fishing with the Bucktail was an excellent book. I went to have Captain John DeMaio sign it. I tried to set up a charter. Unfortunately, I found out that he had pancreatic cancer and was no longer able to accept charters.
I do not believe I'm going fishing anytime soon in this weather. But a good book can be special.
Right now I am starting a John Skinner book, Fishing the Edge.
Anyone have any other great fishing books they like to recommend?
