Great report, thanks. you are lucky to have fished with your children. My son lives in Manhattan now so he doesn’t fish too much with me anymore. It’s definitely a treat, good for you!
This is a different subject and rod but I wanted to show anybody that might be interested in a new conventional rod for Blackfishing using sinkers. So, I recently moved to an area of L.I. onthe south shore that doesn’t have a lot of structure for me to enjoy my favorite method of Blackfishing...
Do you live in L.I. by any chance? I wouldn’t mind getting a tutorial on using the stone correctly. I need to figure out how to properly sharpen my knives and keep an edge. I have Dexters ,a Bubba ,and various sharpeners, but I have never used a stone or oil.
It’s Blackfish Chowder time.
I put a new spin on my favorite Mojoes blackfish chowder. I grilled up some corn on the cob in its husks on the BBQ then shaved the roasted corn into my chowder. I also put alittle zing in it with a couple of dashes of David’s Gourmet Sauce ( Hurtin Habenero) to...
JBird , you are spot on, I couldn’t agree more!
I had my first boat in New Rochelle at the Marina where John Knight is(Hudson Park) I bought my first jigs from him over 10 years ago.
Lightweight tackle w/Jigs in shallow Water is so much fun.

As per our conversation yesterday, and to add to it, I am generally available if anyone needs an extra to round out a charter. I’m pretty close to Greenport where Capt Mike keeps his boat. I did my own charter last year for the first time with Mike and we had a great trip, Mike is a pleasure...
We lived in the Bronx and I went on the North Star a lot as a kid. City Island was our version of Knapp St so to speak, but obviously on a lesser scale . The Apache was there too and the Ebb Tide later on . I’m sure I forgot a few more . That’s a shame, many fond memories on the North Star.
