    Bass with Bunker

Had an awesome day Tuesday, my 10 yr old grandson pulled two nice Bass out of bunker schools west by the new inlet. Both fish were released (38" & 40") to fight another day. The smile on his face was priceless! My buddy also had two of his bunker come back to the boat bitten in half. I was so...

    Tough day

Headed out this morning in search of some fluke. Wind was blowing pretty good out of the north (way more than the expected 10 knts). Started in the narrows, fished bucktails with gulp (blowfish were not an issue all day) as well as fresh spearing/searobin strips. As the incoming slacked up we...

    Getting better

Hi flounderjoe, which day did you head out? Looks like your post was today in the am but you mentioned you fished the afternoon trip, just curious. I was out today (Sunday) and the NOAA report of N wind at 10 knts was just a tad off. Wind was cranking all day long and we had a tough day putting...

    Drift sock ?

This has opened my eyes, I never thought of using my drift sock as a means to combat a wind against tide situation. If deploying the sock might give me a little movement into the wind that would only be a good thing. To date I've only used it to slow a wind with tide drift. Something to think...

    Hello, any bunker out there?

Ahh, forget the smell of napalm in the morning, that's what I love to see! Very nice fish and he'll live to see another day. Thanks for the info, next week looks beautiful I'll sharpen up my bunker snags.

    Hello, any bunker out there?

Well its June, and I realize any Stripers over 35" need to go back but the first few weeks of June for me normally mean culling monster Bass from bunker pods. I've not as yet made it into the ocean and was wondering if anyone has seen any bunker between Fire Island and Moriches? I have no...

    Afternoon Fluke

I would say thats pretty darn impressive fishing a wind against tide. Last weekend we saw the best action on the outgoing at Pt. Jeff but that was a wind wth tide. Don't know if I should go North or South shore this weekend. Sunday says wind from the N so I'm leaning on Moriches, hope the...

    Not much

I've got to get my 10 yr old buddy into some of those dinner plates roaming around the Sound right now. He's got my old spinner and I think after a day of Scup fishing his wrist might be a bit sore. Hopefully the good kind of sore. Lol

    Pt. Jefferson fun

Could be BennyV but I not convinced they're sculpin. The fish we caught very closely resembled our typical sea robin in every way except their coloring is more brown than orange and their mouths are not nearly as large. It was almost impossible for me to lip these fish. The smaller head is...

    Finally got out= one short

NOAA says 5-10 knts both sides of the island just about every day this week. Might want to rethink spending too much time on the pool! Lol

    Pt. Jefferson fun

Fished Pt. Jefferson harbor Saturday with my grandson, I love/hate when he outfishes me lol, soooo much fun! More fluke than I've seen anywhere else so far this season. Mostly shorts but we were able to bring home a couple for dinner. My buddy caught some of the largest sea robins I've seen in a...

    Long Beach ramp

A buddy and I launched out of the Long Beach ramp Saturday and fished all day in the rain (fish were already wet). Not exactly what we'd hoped for, we ended with 2 keeper fluke, several 2-3# bluefish, and a few sea robins. We through back at least a 1/2 doz. shorts. My hands got so pruney from...

    Memorial Day Fluke

If you were able to fish with gulp without the blowfish instantly destroying it then I'd assume they've moved out of the narrows. Doesn't really make sense to me but I got out twice last week and my gulp didn't last 2 minutes. Only caught 1 short fluke but brought home 25 more blowfish.

    Blowfish and more BLOWFISH!

Hold on Chevy I'll go ask my 10 yr old grandson, lol I actually was waiting to long, by the time I set the hook must often they had it down deep. my grandson told me to swing at the first tap and sometimes even if you dont feel a hit. If you've got a chum pot down they apparently swallow your...

    Sticky steering advice

Trying to get tech -phisticated, 1st attempt a photo attachment. Anyway, time to begin the lubrication process. I'll see if I can get a decent shot of the top of the pivot tube.

    Blowfish and more BLOWFISH!

I started throwing them back when the fish box looked like a balloon festival. They were actually a real nice size 10" and lets just say if I didn't watch youtube for a novel way to skin them using a fork I doubt I've have much skin on my fingers . Lol Cooked up an awesome batch, flour, egg and...

    Blowfish and more BLOWFISH!

I finally got a weather window this week (thursday) to splash the boat. My grandson and I launched from Forge river and fished Moriches bay. I headed west to Smith's Pt bridge and we cast plugs by the piljngs hoping for Bass or Bluefish, no go. Headed back east and drifted the narrows (Buoy...

    Porgy time

Awesome news, thank you. Any info regarding life in the water is welcome. I was all pumped up with the mild winter we had that everything would kick in early this season, NOT! It seems all winter the temps were higher than average but this Spring seems the temps are all lower than average. Go...
