Well sad to say the Scion that my daughter had got to 168K until there was some bumper love and the insurance company totaled it. She is now driving a used Jeep Liberty and wishes she still had the dependable XB. The Jeep has 160K on it, and runs well, but the check engine light likes to come on...
Got out on thanksgiving morning with my daughter Ally...she's been itching to go fishing and having her home from college is more than enough reason. She has been asking for more responsibility regarding the boat this year, so I figured a quiet thursday morning is a good time to have her drive...
Gave it another shot on saturday morning. Had my neighbor and John "Fish4Me" with me to see what was still around. Always a pleasure to have any of the amigo's aboard to rehash and laugh over old shananigans, as well as making new memories.
Expected a West wind 5-10 for the am. Broke the inlet...
Gave the tog another chance on Sunday. Waited out the rain and broke the inlet @10:30 and was rudely greeted with 2-4 tight chop.
Scrapped my plans to head across to the CT side when I couldn’t make more than 10 kts without slamming hard. Plan B was a close area around Eatons.
Found a nice spot...
Another question to ponder.....
When using spot lock for night time chunking bass for example...am I using my red/green nav lights because technically im under power, or should I not confuse those around us and use the anchored white light?
I use the white 360 light to avoid night time...
Got lucky to find a replacement motor for my ride. Quick trip to VB to pick it up, spent a few days last week removing and installing and Sat was sea trial day. Broke inlet @7:30 with my son and daughter onboard. Stopped inclose and drowned some crabs for shorts well as a keeper tog and cbass...
Nice....surprised it took that long for the big boy to kick.
We've all seen tog flopping on the table hours after being put in the bucket.
Congrats on a great day of catching!
I am heading south friday afternoon....Norfolk
Picking up a pair of 200 HPDI's....one ready to go, one needs work. Great price so I took both, but I also have to remove them from the boat they are on.
Hopefully have the good one installed before next weekend.
Going to have plenty of spare parts!
With my boat out of commission, (hopefully for not too much longer), I leaned on fellow amigo Koz and twisted his arm to take the day and try and repeat past years success. The phenomenal weather was the kicker and off we went armed with greens and Asian crabs that I flipped rocks for the day...
