I know of 2 fish in the 50" class that have been caught in the bay. More than last 3 years!
It's surprising because the fall had no shortage of big fish. on the flip side, there was also a big body of smaller fish 22-26" late fall towards the close.
What a difference a few days makes. 14 fish up to 42"!
Birds were everywhere from Canarsie pier to Marine Park bridge. Big body of fish moving in with some beasts mixed in. Didn't see any big fish last spring!

Yes it's a fluke. Ironically, there's a sewer outflow across from the pier marked by a cement structure. In the 80s, it was loaded with flounder. Spot was called the cement block. Was a joy to fish that area back then!
