Nah, not being a Debbie Downer...Just an honest assessment of what I have experienced the last 8 or so years. I always try to keep it real in my posts.
Regarding "the sell-off" I'd say you were partially accurate. I do have a desire to sell about 30-40% of my rods & reels and that is mostly...
I think my biggest issue currently with the deep water fluking is that I haven't really purchased any reels that are "suited" to that style of fishing. It was never a necessity for me. At this point in my "fishing life" there is NO plan to address those needs either. If I do fish the deep...
Not sure if this is a debate, a discussion or just a few guys that are expressing their opinions on the state of our local fluke fishery and how they personally intend to move forward in their pursuit of a certain species given the fact that there has been a significant "shift" in the migration...
Fluke fishing on Long Island (north, south, east & west) has been on a steady decline for several seasons now. The most frustrating part of it is, nobody knows why. I fish out of Jamaica Bay and up until about 2012, we had a healthy fluke population from May through late August. Yes, there...
This "deep drop" fluking topic is waaaay beyond my scope and DEFINITELY not what I had in mind when I "really" started to perfect my techniques as a fluke jigger nearly 20 years ago. At that time I was a guy who had a home turf fluke bite that was booming and RARELY did I have to venture into...
Hey Rich. No, I'm not a big golf enthusiast. I did "attempt" to play a few times with my brother inlaw - who thinks he's on the PGA Tour. It certainly isn't an easy game! I mostly threw & kicked the ball towards every hole.
Nah, when my fishing days are over, it won't be golf occupying my...
So, Richie built me the rod about 5 years ago. It was designed & cut with tog fishing in mind (as my rods often are). I matched the colors PERFECTLY to a beautiful custom "Lepped-Up" copper-colored Abu Garcia! It's a "SNAZZY" combo - to steal a word from Pete's vocabulary!
As you know, I...
Here ya go....
The pictures do the rod no justice. It's very difficult to see the colors in the wraps which are light gray, dark gray, white, black and metallic copper. Very sharp looking, especially in the sun.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.

Pete, as your friend, I feel obligated to assist you in occupying your time with fishing reel-ated projects. I'll drop a few reels off for knob upgrades next week. It's the least I could do. I mean what are friends for?
Hey Guys, been a long time since I came on NYA to chat...Hope everyone is doing well.
I know I'm VERY LATE to this thread (topic) That's probably because I'm not quite the tackle (gear) enthusiast that I used to be (for a myriad of reasons). However, I recently picked up one of these Shimano...
Maybe I'll give a tug or two on that Kil stick Big Joe bought at Ward Melville for fluke this summer. I'd probably have to chop a few inches off the back end to make it more "suitable" to my liking.
However, if I were to buy one, that would mean something I already own would be hitting the...

I wouldn't talk if I were you, Mr. Fashion nightmare...I've seen a few of your costumes. You make the hobos in the subway look like runway models :geek:
