    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

And here she is...my first 10+ tog. I learned two things that day. 1. Catching big tog is a very rewarding experience. 2. Cutting big tog for dinner 'ain't for me ?‍♂️

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

I remember the day I caught my first 10+ tog at 17 Fathoms many years ago. I was obviously pretty excited because it took quite a few years to get it. I snapped at least 20 pictures and threw her in the cooler with a great sense of satisfaction. Until I got to the dock and watched my friend...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

MTB: You're right. Fishing ultra light tackle puts you at a major disadvantage when it comes to landing 10+ fish. There is no doubt about it. Fishing ultra light for tog is not for everyone and certainly NOT for the faint of heart. You MUST have a mindset for it. You must be prepared to...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

Well fellas, I'm not sure what words of mine could sufficiently follow the last several posts by Lep & Mike. I'm not even gonna try, for tonight. I think I'll just sleep on all that incredibly interesting information, digest it and come back for subsequent posts tomorrow. Thanks to both Lep &...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

I had the 7 many years ago. I liked it, but I prefer the faster rods. Sold it to my buddy Nick who still uses it for tog. I'm a huge Calstar fan. Always have been.

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

So, here is one of my SIX "Special Edition Lep Reels" that my good buddy Pete has been gracious enough to build me! These are built with only one thing in mind...TAUTOG! Hopefully, Pete will jump in here at some point and discuss what went into it. All I know is these reels are beautiful...

Al, is that Calstar "GFX" series blank what they call a Grafighter, or is that something altogether different?

the movie you just rented/went to see/or just saw "Recommend or Not Recommend It" thread

Hey wader, sorry for the delayed response. Been so busy, I haven't been on NYA much lately. Stan & Ollie is a regular movie, not a documentary. It's in theaters right now. Steve Coogan as Stan & John C. Reilly as Ollie. It was good but I'd suggest you wait until it comes on Netflix or Hulu...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

Hey Al, thanks for chiming in! You are EXACTLY type of guy I need to keep this thing rolling in the direction I'd like it to go. That being an in-depth discussion of gear & techniques for tog. What could be better than to have a rod expert in on this?!? What are some of your favorite rod...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

I'd like to kick this thing off by going back to my EARLY days of tog fishing. It started when I met my buddy John Cipolla who was a hardcore blackfish guy! This was mid-to-late 80's and he had a tiny 16' skiff that we took all around the Jamaica Bay area and even made our ventures to the...

    Tog Sh!t - A "SERIOUS" Discussion

Anyone that knows me knows that of all the local fish that we target here in the tri-state area inshore waters, tautog is my favorite. My passion for fishing lives with landing 10+ tog on ultra light tackle. Every year I try to "up my game" with lighter reels, lighter rods, lighter line, etc...

    A GULP! Substitute? Maybe So . . .

BennyV said: Why don’t bait shops stock killies anymore? My guess would be that it costs too much to keep that livewell pump running 24/7. Add that to the fact that just about everyone fluke fishing these days is embracing the plastics...Especially GULP. Like I've stated before, I have...

the movie you just rented/went to see/or just saw "Recommend or Not Recommend It" thread

Saw "Stan & Ollie" last night. It was a good movie. I thought Steve Coogan did a great job as Stan Laurel, which is not an easy character to portray. Stan Laurel was a quirky dude. The actress that played Stan Laurel's wife (Ida Kitaeva Laurel ), Nina Arianda Matijcio, did a great job and in...

the movie you just rented/went to see/or just saw "Recommend or Not Recommend It" thread

I saw both "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Green Book." Enjoyed both movies but give the edge to Green Book. Excellent work done by Mahershala Ali & Viggo Mortensen. I'd be surprised if Green Book doesn't win Best Picture...but the Oscars have shocked me in the past with some real disappointing Best...
