4 strokes will end up costing a lot more than 2 strokes to service . 2 stroke direct injections were the way to go , the manufacturers went 4 stroke to get more service revenue from customers.
I wish there were Outboard Mechanics who'd come to your home and charge $75 an hour. $190 an hour that Marinas charge is ridiculous. You'd think there would be a bunch of older guys who'd do it to supplement their retirements , $75 an hour is way better than $16 an hour at Walmart.
Make sure you...
That's something I'd be interested in if I was a Diesel Mechanic . What are American Engines selling For ? This Chinese Engine is a Cummins knock off. They even build Lobster Boats, saw a 45 footer for $150,000.
I can't answer that. I'm just wondering why Cod came back so quickly in the past and now they aren't? I don't think it's climate change because Cod are scarce in Maine and the water temps there are lower than the lowest water temps Long Island ever had. When you see Fluke, Winter Flounder ...
Drove over the Robert Moses Causeway yesterday and the bay there was iced over/up to a foot of snow on top , . Off Captree /The inlet side it's nearly covered in ice. Drove past the Coast Guard Station and the entrance into the docks there was frozen over . Another week of these Temps and...
Saw the Grandsea 45 Footer on Alibaba for $150,000. Looks just like one from Maine ! 1989 my family purchased a 31 foot BHM hull from Flye Point Marine and we built a lobster boat. Not hard to build one of those boats . We paid $10,000 for the Hull , we went up to Brooklyn and paid for it...
Ling survived the nets because many hid in rocks/wrecks, unlike the Whiting. Isn't that a clue it was over fishing ? Took 15 years for the Ling to come back strong again.
I bet they're doing their best to exploit bergalls as well.
The cod fishing in the 1970's was far worse than it is today. They kicked the foreign fleet out in 1976 and 4 years later there was excellent cod fishing again. Took 4 or 5 years to rebuild the Cod Stock in the late 1970's. There's illegal fishing going on up North and too much by catch. The...
Peconic Bay/Orient offers almost the same quality fishing as Montauk does, but it would be nice having a ramp in Orient State Park and Montauk for those special occasions. There's no excuse not building one in a State Park , out in Montauk they might be able to build one at Hither Hills State...
Right next to Star Island Marine ( on the road leading to the US Coast Guard Station ) there's about 5 acres of land and it would be perfect for a new boat launching ramp there. Last time I was out there the property was for sale. Couldn't the state buy that land with fishing fund money and put...
More Information about George Dasch. George Dasch did 2 stints in the US Army , his first enlistment was in the 1920's and in the mid 1930's he enlisted again. He left his first wife ( Snooks) without getting a divorce and he married an Upstate NY woman . He changed his name so we wouldn't be...
The SS Persephone was torpedoed and sunk only 3 miles off New Jersey! Fishing writer Mark Sosin was fishing with his father in Barnegat Bay and saw that ship explode offshore.
Capt. Linder took the Rio Tercero Log Book to cover up the sinking and then they were going to machine gun the survivors. 37 survivors saw the machine guns come out. It was a miracle the plane arrived when it did and stopped that from happening. Crazy what happened off NY and NJ during the war.
The Rio Tercero incident was probably the reason why Capt. Linder was relieved of command at the end of the war patrol. From June12Th until the sinking of the Rio Tercero, Linder must of been going out of his mind and when he realized he sank a Neutral Ship he thought the worst. . He nearly...
Read the U202 Interrogation report again- survivors of the SS Rio Tercero saw the name Innsbruck in white letters on the Conning tower of U202 . So they did surface and came real close where they could read that name.
Did a little research on the sinking of the SS Rio Tercero and what I read is terrifying! The SS Rio Tercero was sunk on June 24th by U202. It was a neutral Argentine Freighter. Capt. Lindor sank it with 3 torpedoes and it went down in 10 minutes. 5 men on board the ship died.
The survivors...
More than anything it's to protect those protestors from being shot.
The only anti hunting reactions most of us will experience are when we come home with a deer on the back of our cars. One time I was coming home from an Upstate hunt, I think it was the first deer my family ever shot . We...
