My mom is 98. One kitchen cabinet is still packed with aluminum foil. She didn't do the tea bag thing, but bacon grease still goes in an old soup can. Better for the drain pipes anyway. I still get a really uneasy feeling every time I throw out a piece of aluminum foil. Like, my mom is watching...
I got bit by one of those boogers while flounder fishing when I was a kid. Hurt like hell.
I would gladly take the pain to see some flounder in the south shore bays once again.
So what. In New York we released two cop killers and now one of them is going to speak to students at SUNY Brockport like he's some kind of hero or freedom fighter.
That brings back very fond memories. There were a few spots in Merrick Bay and right in Freeport Creek minutes from the dock. You would be surrounded by rental boats from Nick's Fishing Station.
The "S" turn is no longer a buoyed channel. The south end got too shallow. The bay shack by my spot...
Just my undocumented opinion but the demise of the blackback flounder has got to be something else. Stripers, seals and birds can't be the reason. I have not seen a flounder caught from the Freeport, Merrick, Belmore or Wantagh bays in 20 years. You don't hear about anyone catching them...
