    FLUKE & WORMS

Yes I’m also a fan of the Kahle hooks for killies. I also used them for strip baits in the 5/0-6/0 size. They have always seemed to offer better flutter and better jaw penetration with less effort.

    FLUKE & WORMS

OVERBORED No actually it is 9 feet the inch symbol was my typing error. Not only does it allow you to retie hooks lost to bluefish but it allows the live bait fish the ability to swim more naturally unimpeded by the sinker. At +- 9 feet using a 7 foot rod a lone angler can lift the fish and net...

    FLUKE & WORMS

Yes a 9” leader so I only have to snell a hook instead of a new leader and hook after a blue fish. Allows for more time fishing less time rigging.

    FLUKE & WORMS

Matt, I fish them on a +- 9’ leader with a snelled owner Mutu light wire circle hook 2/0 or 3/0 dependent on the time of season peanut bunker size, sometimes down to 1/0. I use a sinker slide clip either direct on the bottom or with a 12"’ to 18” length lite mono to raise the peanut off the...

    Scallops in the GSB

Unfortunately since some migrate from Mexico to Canada they are protected under rules for migrating birds you can’t legally kill them. I’ve seen them early morning with large bass eels and once attempting to swallow an adult bunker.

    Scallops in the GSB

Cormorant Bounty: I remember a time pulling a 10’ x 4’ net and catching spearing, killies, elvers, baby flounder, grass shrimp, piper fish and seahorses in Massapequa Cove as well as Florence Ave Beach. My uncle and I came across our first cormorant around 1973 duck hunting at what was called...

    Fluke regs are out

I feel sorry for the people who have to fish inside on the south shore, These new regs. after last years poor showing of inside keepers are going to make it almost impossible for them to bring home filets. I struggled inside and I have 63 years of fishing Jones inlet to Ocean beach under my...

Long Island Towns have to band together and get the DEC to Stock Winter Flounder

This is what I believe to be the downfall of the Black back flounder, eels, piper fish, and the seahorses we had in the south shore bays. It's the cormorant ! I first saw one hunting ducks in the early 70's didn't know what it was. Moved out to a waterfront home in 1982 and saw an explosion of...

uh-oh, could be the fat lady has made an appearance for me

I believe it's a blue runner that the tannic canal water has darkened. It should have a dark spot to the rear of the gill plate and bony projections on the lateral line and top and bottom of the body within a couple of inches of the tail to the tail. From discussions at the docks in Florida you...
