Sorry, no pics, but saw a Bald Eagle flying over All American in Massapequa when we were bringing Avenger Jr. home from campus.
The irony was not lost on me.
I would have been too young to remember that specific incident. But I do remember flying the DC shuttle a few times. They actually let me in the cockpit of a Lockheed Electra on one flight. I also remember the '70s as a busy time for hijackings planes to Cuba.
Different times.
Considering how they fukked up last year's prediction. Because, you know, CLIMATE CHANGE!,... I'm not surprised they're toning it down.
Sadly, they'll probably be wrong again. :(
That clip never gets old. Especially Curly sawing the throttles until he goes down like he's pole-axed.
Maple Leaf Rag accompaniment just nails the mood. Nice work.
There's always cr@p around the bridges to grab your gear. We really haven't had any issues with cable crossings anchoring on the West side of the Meadowbrook. There's still a chance of snagging some junk with your tackle, but it's pretty minimal.
The Wantagh, OTOH, is a lot more challenging...
We're usually set up around the same distance as the furthest protective piling, and they don't give us grief. In this case we did end up a little closer (if you look at the alignment if the pilings in the pic we're almost even with and slightly ahead of the second set of pilings) because of the...
Sounds like they were sitting pretty.
"The" famous jingle you say.
When I picked up the first couple of cases, the guy behind the counter insisted we sing the jingle together. "C'mon you know it."
Sadly we knew both of them. That one, and Schaefer City.
Marketing. It's a thing.
Sadly, it's just marketing. All those classic brands like Rheingold, Schmidt's, Piels, Ballentine etc. were always around. They just weren't in the public consciousness.
My friend who moved to PA liked Schaefer. He was able to get it locally for a while, but eventually his distributor stopped...
Since the RR strike was farking up traffic, I elected to take the day off and accept an invite from my friend to waste a day washing bait.
We initially set up on the south side of the draw, and I promptly hooked up a world-class Dogfish. A little while later my friend did the same. I suggested...
They're certainly my favorite. Did you know there's only three actual manufacturers of batteries. East Penn is one of them. Deka is their house brand. Most battery brands people swear by, like Interstate (or West Marine ) are just rebrands of one of the three makers.
Who writes this stuff?

East Penn Manufacturing isn't the fishing reel company. They're a battery manufacturer. Doesn't anyone do any homework anymore?
Ah, what should you expect from a bunch of blow boaters. :(
