When I was in New Orleans I had a very simple but tasty oyster dish at the ACME Fish Co.
When the juices of the oyster start to sizzle on the grill, sprinkle some freshly grated Pecorino-Romano cheese on top. I know you're not supposed to put cheese of any kind on seafood but somehow that worked!
"The scientist should have no “agenda” in their quest to search for the truth. I’m sure there are those within NOAA that do, but I doubt very much it’s the ones in the trenches do the research."
MM doubts its occurring so we all must believe him. Another ASSumption.
"As far as people with...
Come back to reality hawk. Rod and reel catch and release mortality doesn't compare to the waste from just 1 tow of a big dragger. Multiply that by hundreds of tows over a winter season and you can easily see how fluke numbers are greatly reduced. Ask any captain in Mass. how fishing has changed...
MM, you seem to be stuck on this notion that scientists ESPECIALLY those from NOAA are beyond reproach. That couldn't be further from the truth! I worked in Research for many years. One of the many lessons I learned from my PI who was Internationally recognized in his field was that of all the...
Don't worry. MakoMatt will continue to insist that NOAA is doing a good job and that we should all appreciate the crumbs we are being left with. RLMAO!
NOAA has been in existence since 1970. They've made great progress in preserving and growing the commercial fishing industry while contracting the recreational sector.
This year's fluke season is just one example of recs getting the crumbs left at the table.
Failed science, out of date data and a THRIVING winter trawl fishery.
I would wager that the 46% number is even higher given a large draggers ability to hide a few extra cartons of jumbos!
So many examples of mismanagement and failures along with exponentially more excuses from the Herring to...
Do you mean "best available science" or actual data that the gentleman from NJ so eloquently put together?
What we see on the water and in our coolers does not add up to what regulators are trying to accomplish. There's alot of fluke being landed and killed. Unfortunately not by rod and reel...
What is the economic impact of that 1.5% of the population chasing Fluke up and down the east coast?
How much of an impact on just Long Island if those fish were left alone all winter and suddenly seeing 10lbers would be routine?
You keep saying Natural resource..well...Giant tuna are a...
