Whats going on in the World

Not quite, but definite Sicilian family roots going back almost 100 years. The original family home built back in the late 1920’s. This home was built by a great Uncle of mine, Victor Leon, and it was a copy of the home he left in Sicily.

Technology and the amazing machines it brings us

Very cool. The vehicle was driverless. Not much a human could do behind the wheel in a stunt like that except pray.

    Cod 27/28

There is plenty of FRESH Cod imported into the U.S. from Peru, Canada, and Iceland. And some other countries import frozen. China and Vietnam are suppliers, and the fish we import from China may very well be from Russian sources. So there’s a good chance that Cod you see on menus, fish...

    "Windy" app ( ? )

I have used the Windy app from our local area to as far south as Antartica, and find it to be pretty accurate. I found it particularly interesting comparing real conditions vs the app when steaming through Drakes Passage.

    Gas prices 2019 and beyond

Correct, my bad, I was looking at the wrong section, the NY section, of the national fuel cost averages. Still, very little movement. Just minor fluctuating prices. https://gasprices.aaa.com/?state=NY

NH fisherman reels in 1,116lb BFT

Agreed, it’s actually quite the opposite. We often chunk for tuna on the hook. We use the anchor ball in conjunction with a Pelican Hook that can be deployed from the cockpit. If we get a good one on just a quick short tug on the Pelican Hook line and you’re set free.

    Fluke Season 2026 Analysis

“MM, you seem to be stuck on this notion that scientists ESPECIALLY those from NOAA are beyond reproach. That couldn't be further from the truth! I worked in Research for many years. One of the many lessons I learned from my PI who was Internationally recognized in his field was that of all the...

    Fluke Season 2026 Analysis

“seems the commercial sector just gets stronger at the expense of the little guys looking to catch dinner. Go up to New England and speak with the commercial fishermen and talk to them about how much “stronger” their business is today vs 30, 20, or even 10years ago. What we do is called...

    Fluke Season 2026 Analysis

Yes, high grading is culling. I only mentioned it because in your scenario of keeping whatever size fish you want it would lend itself to culling as you could never be caught with an undersized fish.

    Such a beautiful bird

Beautiful majestic birds. My Florida winter retreat is a relatively small community on 2,400 acres. There is a lot of open space. We are an Audubon International Silver Signature Member. We have a lot of Bald Eagles. Always a great seeing them.
