I have not investigated this in some time. There are a few Fishing Associations that area supposed to represent recreational fisherman:
RFA
IGFA
NYSF
ASMFC
There may be more. Are there any that represent recreational fishermen and have had positive results that you can site? Do any have any...
As stated above, I have very limited experience with getting boarded. But in those few times the officers that boarded have always been very professional.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
One time I lived in Floral Park, and with my friend, we went to Gary’s Gym in Queens. It the same one that Lou Ferrigno was lifting at in Pumping Iron. But I digress…
Leaving the gym, I stopped at a red light. The car behind me beeped his horn. Then...
A story to bring a smile to your faces.
My dog came running out of the wooded area of my back yard and had yellow jackets all over her. After we cleaned them off of her, I went looking for the nest. I found it on the ground a small hole that looked like Grand Central with all the activity.
I...
Well said. I went to a meeting regarding fishing regulations (2021?). I think I went with Crabman and Captain Paul Risi to Stony Brook. I felt I wasn’t getting involved and if regulations were passed that I didn’t like I had only myself to blame.
A few things stuck in my mind after the meeting...
I hear many people with many opinions. I have yet to see anything related to "scientic". I have a background in a medical lab. Everything we did was driven by facts and data.
You don't happen to have that study for us to read? I usually do not ask questions asking for a data source like that as it sounds confrontational. But it’s not meant to be. Reading the source material can be important.
Captain Paul Risi once mentioned to me when I asked if there was any data on mortality rate of fish caught and released. He replied
"Between five percent and fifteen percent. Most fisheries use a number around ten percent. Again, here education goes a long way. People who dig for their hooks on...

Most of my teasers are the usual hair type. So, just asking. Also, do you feel they work better in the begining of the season (May / June)...
I would call Jeff’s Marine Electronics. I needed help a few times and I was looking for someone. As luck would have it, Captain Jeff Roye was close to me. I called him up and set up and appointment.
Captain Jeff did a great job. He installed my Garmin EchoMap as I requested. Then he hooked it...
The weather, especially on the weekends, has not been great. A lot of wind has kept me from fishing on my boat.
I have caught over 40 fluke. But zero keepers. A friend had similar experience on the south shore
I have not caught Mackerel in the Long Island Sound in many years. This year, maybe...
I am the same age and I use a UV shirt. I purchased two, one loose, one tight. The loose one feels hot in the sun. The tight one, believe it or not, feels cooler. I think it evaporates sweat better.
