7/23/22- Jones Inlet

Left the dock at 4:30 am, to beat the heat. we were the first boat to the Mccalister grounds. Picked away at short sea bass and fluke had some coffee and watched the sun rise. Once sunrise hit we moved to the numerous bunker pods looking for cobia. Sharks were everywhere and we couldn't get away from them. We must have had over 10 to the boat side they were all blue shark with some very large. The surprise was the one thresher shark took us about 25 minutes to get to the boat and she measured 3.5 to 4 feet. All sharks were safely released. They were fun on my bass pole. We were exhausted by 8:30 am with the shark and went back to the Mccalister grounds. Many boats were there by now and the fishing was a lot slower with mostly sea robins. Back to the dock at 9:30 AM. Great morning.
