Amagansett beach

Another spot gone for surf fishing. Hopefully only temporarily. Now we need a big storm to hit and wipe out the beach and then they will want Federal money to restore it. I'm only kidding about wiping out the beach but it is another case of not in my backyard.

This is where the surf fishing community needs to voice its opposition. I would see what LIBBA is doing on it. They're a great bunch of educated surf anglers that are fighting for you behind the scenes daily.

And obviously they don't want History Buffs coming out there to see where the German Spies landed in Amagansett. Go down to Ponte Verde Beach Florida and they have an Historical Marker that tells the story of Operation Pastorius in 1942. The German Spies landed on Amagansett Beach and also on Ponte Verde Beach near Jacksonville.
I go out to Amagansett and they hardly mention the landing. I went out there 2 years ago and they had a sign in front of the Old Coast Guard Station that mentioned that a U boat landed there and dropped off spies. Went out there last January and the sign was different, it said German Spies landed here with no mention of a U boat. That's the biggest thing that ever happened in that town .
