Left the house at 6 o’clock to meet Frank Sr and it was thick the fog. By the time I got to boat it looked like it was lifting in the harbor. Had a friend that left in the fog and was chatting with him till Frank got there, he said it was ugly out there but they were catching bass. We made our way out and it looked good till we hit the sound and it was bad, I’m all down for fishing but at our age it’s not worth it. We turned around and trolled our way back to where we can see land. After about a half hour or so it lifted enough for us. Got the trolling rod in and instantly hook up with what had to be a double on the shad rig after the rod bucking like a bronco the leader broke.switched to the wire and sent a mojo out bang fish on again definitely no slot fish a fat 43” and more fish oversized tide fell out and bite was over.
On to the fluke scene found a little pocket to get out of the breeze got tight to beach 10 ft of water. Frank and I both hook with a pair of 17” we picked fish on every drift all the fish were all the same size. Crazy fishing 17 to 18” fish we had at least 32/35 fish three keepers and about half dozen sea robins. All the fish are spitting up Sand eels about 2” to 3”. Was a beautiful day on the water. Frank Sr with double header shorts his hands aren’t working the greatest, so he had to hold with a rag they were released safely after photo. God bless him at 87 man is a fishing machine.
