Beaverkill & Willowemoc this Spring

Good to know .Spend a fare amount money there .But i spend most of my fishing time on the other side of the mountain on the esopus
The Esopus is a fine place also but there has been a breach in the NYC water tunnel and the water has been muddied up for the past couple of years in the Phoneica area. I understand that it will be quiet a project to repair it.

Hey Carl, my place is about 1/2 -an hour south of you so I might take you up on that. I'm supposed to do a drift trip on the Delaware starting in Rosco in a few weeks. That stretch down to the Lackawaxan.

I also have a tracker bass boat up there and I'm always looking for new places to fish, and people to fish with :)

Take me ?

The esopus has been fishing fine for the past 6 or so years the tunnel water releases are more under control and they are working on the problem for the last 2 winters .The portal has been and is closed for the last till april as they put new valves in the diversion dam and fix up the tunnel siltation issues. Its muddiness is more from eroding clay banks on some of its feeder creeks. But shhh ! dont spread this around roscoe .

It would be great to get together up here again, I think its been over 10 years since you were up at mine.
That Drift boat fishing does produce well. My buddy Phil has a place on the river just before Hancock and that's all he does and keeps me updated. I was down at the Junction pool today, the water is nice an clear with a slow snow melt, its looking good for the opener with not major storms in the forecast for next week.
Lets put that tracker to some good use on some of the bigger lakes.
Also, if you want to fish the Pepacton, I have a boat at the Pump House ready to go as soon as the ice clears.
So many choices and so little time these days !

How did the ceremonial first cast go today
Well Joe, I woke up this morning to a few inches of new snow with white out conditions on top of the mountain where I live. Temps were in the high twenties. I decided not to venture out. Late in the day I spoke with a buddy of mine who was down at Junction Pool in the early AM. He said there was about 10 guys making that first cast and continued for over an hour but no action at all. Same for over at the upper Willowemoc later in the day from him as well. Some sun forecasted for Wed, will give it a try then.

Nice to hear of that rainbow down at Southaven, that brings back some good memories for me. Its 19 deg here this morning, I'm headed up along the Willowemoc to Mongaup State Park and see what the day brings later with the temps. Maybee......if not tomorrow.

This afternoon turned out pretty nice, Mongaup Pond is still frozen over but the spillway and upper Willowemoc was flowing nice and clear. My son and I fished the first access down from the Hatchery. Only a couple of bumps for me but the guy out in the middle had a nice one around 15" after changing over from a fly to a phebe. Tomorrow.........
