Broke the Century Mark Today...

Caught my 1st striper 2 weeks ago and today, the YTD total went over 100 to 102. The last couple of days have been true early June in Maine, fish settled into their normal haunts in good numbers. Today's haul of 23 included the Alpha and the Omega of the year so far, a 10" fish and a 27" fish. The 10" fish in intriguing as it doesn't even show on age/length charts so it must be a 1 year old. So WTH did a 10" striper come from, the Chesapeake, the Hudson OR Maine's Kennebec River where there is a breeding population?

The big fish is also an interesting story too. Sat down to update my logs and realized I hadn't taken a picture of the tote board on the boat so I schlepped down to the boat. While I was there, the wind had died and the early ebb tide, prime time at my dock, both beckoned to me, "One cast Dom, you know you want to..." So yeah, I said to myself, "3 casts, if nothing shows, then that's it!", grabbed the rod and sent out the popper. Popper didn't go more than 5 feet before it got slammed, but I missed the fish. Kept casting for 20 min and ended up with an additional 4 fish including a nice fat 26".

I just hate it when I have to go back down to the boat for something, especially at dusk on an appropriate tide...
